RUMORS takes place on the night of Charley and Myra Brock’s 10^th Anniversary. They have invited 8 of their closest friends over to celebrate. But as the first guests (Ken and Chris Gorman) arrive, they are greeted – not by the happy couple – but by the sound of a gunshot! They discover that Charlie has shot himself. [Don’t worry! The bullet only pierced his earlobe!]. They also discover that Myra has disappeared completely and that the Brock’s always reliable Chinese cook Mai Li is MIA!

As other guests arrive, Ken and Chris at first try to conceal the incident [after all Charley is the deputy Mayor of New York], but as more and more guests arrive it becomes increasingly difficult to explain the absence of their hosts and (even more obviously) any servants.

Needless to say, as each new guest arrives, their efforts of conceal the truth become more and more convoluted and the nonsense escalates exponentially. The guests include a psychiatrist, the host of a TV Cooking Show and a local politician with an eye on the State Senate with a betrayed wife jealous enough to make Medea look like Donna Reed! 

By the time the police arrive, the guests are dealing (respectively) with the threat of two political scandals, back spasms, nicotine withdrawal and a shattered Steuben glass vase!
