Hey, Look Us Over!

A Tribute to the Great Female Lyricists of Broadway

June 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 2015 | Show 5
Shows at 2:00PM and 8:00PM

When we recall our favorite Broadway show-tunes, we tend to identify them with their predominately male composers. That’s why we speak of Leonard Bernstein’s WONDERFUL TOWN or Cy Coleman’s SWEET CHARITY. But did you know that the lyrics in both of these shows were written by women? The fact is that many of our finest musicals feature either books, lyrics or music written by women, from NAUGHTY MARIETTA (“Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life”) to RAGTIME (“The Wheels of a Dream”). Ladies like Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden and Dorothy Fields have kept us singing for years with songs like “Fine and Dandy,” “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” “Close as Pages in a Book” and “On the Sunny Side of the Street.” So this time, we salute “The Ladies Who Wrote the Lyrics!”
