The Delray Beach Playhouse (DBP), a not-for-profit community theatre company in Delray Beach, Florida, is seeking an enthusiastic director to lead this 70 year-old theatre into its 2016-2017 season and beyond. One of the most prominent community theatres in South Florida, the Delray Beach Playhouse has become a staple of entertainment for Palm Beach and Broward Counties. The DBP is home to two auditoriums – the mainstage theatre, with a capacity of 238, and an open space children’s theater. The Playhouse stages about two hundred
performances per year including Broadway Plays, Musical Memories, interactive StudioTheatre, Feelin’ Groovy series, Children’s Theatre productions, classes and camps.

The executive director serves as the chief executive of the theatre and reports to the Board of Governors. This position has executive responsibility for all artistic, production and administrative operations of the theatre. The ED also serves as the primary spokesperson for the theatre to the public. The ED is responsible for building and maintaining community awareness about the theatre and its mission, and to foster and maintain relationships with all theatre patrons.
The ED serves as the executive producer for all productions of the theatre, ensuring that all production work remains on schedule and on budget and, that all productions meet the level of artistic quality and consistency as established and expected by the organization and community.This position is 40+ flexible hours a week in recognition of night and weekend commitments and responsibilities typical of a theater.
Qualified applicants will have a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred, and a minimum of seven to ten years of progressively responsible senior management experience in the performing arts sector.They will be creative entrepreneurs with strategic planning skills and a deep understanding of theatre production and management processes in a predominantly volunteer environment. Experience working with nonprofit boards is highly desirable, as are excellent budgeting, people management, and communication skills.
