Americans discovered Leslie Bricusse when he and Anthony Newley brought their West End hit STOP THE WORLD – I WANT TO GET OFF to Broadway. Featuring songs like “What Kind of Fool Am I?,” the show was an instant hit, as was their second show, THE ROAR OF THE GREASEPAINT – THE SMELL OF THE CROWD (“Who Can I Turn to?”). Later, he teamed with Frank Wildhorn on JEKYLL AND HYDE (“This is the Moment”) and Henry Mancini on VICTOR/VICTORIA (“Le Jazz Hot”). It wasn’t long before the entire world was also singing the songs he wrote for Hollywood films like the themes from GOLDFINGER and YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, “The Candy Man” (WILLY WONKA), “Talk to the Animals” (DR. DOOLITTLE) and “Can You Read My Mind?” (SUPERMAN).
