The PinkSlip Duo, Joan Friedenberg and Bill Bowen

Show 3 | Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 2:00pm

Like most people in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, Ike Everly and his brothers toiled in the coal mines, but in their little free time, they played music together, on fiddles, mandolins and guitars, singing at the top of their challenged lungs. When Ike and Margaret’s sons came along, first Don and then Phil, they grew up surrounded by the family jam sessions, and by the age of 8 and 6, they were singing with their parents on live radio in rural Iowa, then Tennessee. Their guitar skills grew as they became teenagers and when their recording of “Bye Bye Love” soared to the top of the country and pop charts.

The PinkSlip Duo, Joan Friedenberg and Bill Bowen are professional singers who perform intricately close harmony songs. They were recently named “Best Folk Band” for Broward and Palm Beach counties by New Times magazine. They will transport you back to the old days with nostalgic slide presentations and live performances of music from the 50’s to the 70’s. Lyrics to the songs will be projected for audience sing-along.
