The PinkSlip Duo, Joan Friedenberg and Bill Bowen

Show 4 | Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 2:00pm

Shaped by the cultural and sexual revolutions of the sixties and changing attitudes about a woman’s place in the world, our six female singer-songwriters helped shape some of those changes with their lyrics and lifestyles, which set examples of independence and growth away from the shackles of subservient earlier generations. “Stop in the name of love,” pleading with the two-timing boyfriend to “come back,” would be replaced by “It’s Too Late” and “You’re so vain, you probably think this song is about you,” in a live music-spiced examination of this cultural phenomenon.

The PinkSlip Duo, Joan Friedenberg and Bill Bowen are professional singers who perform intricately close harmony songs. They were recently named “Best Folk Band” for Broward and Palm Beach counties by New Times magazine. They will transport you back to the old days with nostalgic slide presentations and live performances of music from the 50’s to the 70’s. Lyrics to the songs will be projected for audience sing-along.
