5th Annual Playhouse Playwrights Festival of New Plays

Deadline for submissions is May 31st, 2024. 

Finalists will be announced in June.

Auditions will be held July 6 & 7

Rehearsals will be in August-September

Performances: Late October, 2024.

 

PROJECT GUIDELINES:

Seeking:

  • 10-minute to 20-minute one-act plays, not previously produced or published.
  • One page of dialogue equals one minute of run time.
  • There is a non-refundable $25 donation fee.
  • The Playhouse is a 501(3)(c) non-profit, and all fees collected will go towards the audition expenses, production, and several mixers for Playwrights, cast, and crew.
  • Scripts will be judged on concept, dramatic action, characterization and cast size.

Submissions:

  • Please complete the Application form linked below, and include a brief synopsis.
  • Submissions should be Microsoft Word .doc/.docx not PDF.
  • Each page of your script must include your name, title of play and page number in the footer.
  • Stage plays only. No TV or film scripts will be considered.
  • 2-6 actors in total.
  • Please no musicals or choreography
  • No sexually explicit, gratuitously violent, obscene scripts or excessive foul language.
  • Playwrights must attend rehearsals at the Delray Beach Playhouse.

Submissions are due by May 31, 2024.

Playwrights Festival: Art Poster Competition!

This year in conjunction with the Delray Beach Playhouse Annual Playwrights Festival, we are seeking Visual Artists to create original Poster Artwork to promote this year’s Festival and to provide the cover of the Playwrights Festival Playbill. In addition, the winning Poster Artwork will be displayed in the Playhouse lobby for the month of October.
 
MORE INFORMATION:
  • Eligibility: Any resident of Palm Beach or Broward County
  • Submission Deadline: JULY 31, 2024
  • Registration and Entry Fee:  $25.00 submission fee per entry
  • Objective: To create an original Art Poster that promotes the Annual Delray Beach Playhouse Festival of New Plays
  • Submission Requirements: PDF Image of Artwork
  • Size Requirements: Image 24″ x 36″
  • Artwork will be mounted on poster board suitable for reproduction
  • Must include verbiage: Delray Beach Playhouse Playwrights Festival of New Plays 2024
  • Medium: Any two dimensional original artwork in pencil, oil, acrylic, crayon, collage, watercolor, print, or photography. Must be suitable for Poster reproduction.
  • Judgement Criteria: Relevance of Theme, Originality, Artistic Competition, Creativity, Accordance with Given Instructions
 
The Board of Governors is continually working on developing new Arts Programs for the Playhouse. We look forward to meeting Artists and getting them involved in our exciting and innovative new programs.
