7th Annual Playhouse Playwrights Festival of New Plays

The Playhouse Playwrights Project is accepting submissions for its seventh year of staged readings of new plays! Local playwrights are asked to submit an unpublished one-act play for consideration in the festival. Our goal is to identify those one act plays that may be developed into full-length plays to be produced by the Playhouse in the future. Playwrights in Palm Beach County are invited to submit their new works for consideration by the Playhouses reading committee.

IMPORTANT DATES

Deadline for submissions: April 30th, 2026.
Finalists will be announced: May 11th, 2026 via email.
Auditions: May 16th & 17th, 2026
Rehearsals: June 1st – 25th (evenings)
Performances: June 27th – 28th, 2026
 
 

PROJECT GUIDELINES:

SEEKING

  • 10-minute to not more than 20-minute one-act plays, not previously produced or published, from LOCAL* playwrights.
  • One page of dialogue equals one minute of run time.
  • There is a non-refundable $25 donation fee.
  • The Playhouse is a 501(3)(c) non-profit, and all fees collected will go towards the audition expenses, production, and several mixers/gatherings for Playwrights, cast, and crew!
  • Scripts will be judged on concept, dramatic action, characterization and cast size.

SUBMISSIONS:

  • Please complete the Application form linked below, and include a brief synopsis.
  • Submissions should be Microsoft Word .doc/.docx not PDF.
  • Each page of your script must include the title of play and page number in the footer.
  • Stage plays only. No TV or film scripts will be considered.
  • 2-6 actors in total.
  • Please no musicals or choreography
  • No sexually explicit, gratuitously violent, obscene scripts or excessive foul language.
  • *Playwrights must be LOCAL residents and must attend auditions/casting, rehearsals, and performances at the Delray Beach Playhouse to workshop their play. Playwrights must provide a full-time LOCAL home address.

WAYS TO SUBMIT:

  • You may upload your play using the form below, OR email your play to delraybeachplayhouse@gmail.com, OR mail your play to the Playhouse. AND Mail the $25 non-refundable donation fee (per submission) to: Delray Beach Playhouse, 950 NW 9th St., Delray Beach FL 33444, ATTN: Playhouse Playwrights’ Project. *Paper copies will not be returned.
