The Playwriting Process

Classes from September 11 – November 20, 2019 | Wednesdays, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Following up on the success of our first Playwriting Competition this Spring (over 25 scripts were submitted), we are thrilled to be offering our first Playwriting class this fall! This ten-week session will be led by our Education Director Lauren Anastasi, along with an accomplished Dramaturg. The classes will guide writers through the process of playwriting from brainstorming ideas to the final rewrite. Students will be taken through exercises and given tools and assignments for every component of the playwriting process, which include choosing a theme, character development, structuring the plot and writing dialogue. Each student will write a ten-page play, which we will workshop throughout the course.

At the end of the session, the ten-minute plays will be performed by our academy actors in front of an audience at the Playhouse. Constructive feedback is a necessary part of this process and emphasis will be on learning how to give and receive it. Class size is limited so register TODAY!
