Karen Whaley

The talented KAREN WHALEY studied acting at the prestigious HB Studio with TV star, Stephen Strimpell, and Academy Award winning actress, the late Sandy Dennis.
Karen spent many years in New York, during which time, she was able to add to her versatile resume performing in such diverse roles as the youthful Peter PanHelen Keller and the 102-year-old Nanny in MARIGOLDS.
Also while in New York, Karen originated the roles of Donna in THE TAFFETAS, Judy Garland in THE 1943 CANTEEN, and Bertha Mason in Hal Shaper’s U.S. premiere of the musical JANE EYRE.

Additionally, she has enjoyed performing in Grand Operas, but also loves singing County-Western music in Honkey-Tonks. She has appeared at the posh Waldorf-Astoria in NYC and in tacky Vaudeville Revues in the Mid-West. She dabbled in radio. And, as if that weren’t enough, she was a background actor in PATERNITY,  and THE GOOD SPORT.

A quirk of fate brought Karen to Florida, where she became the resident singer on the JUNGLE QUEEN for four years. She has performed in 17 shows at The Delray Beach Playhouse with Artistic Director, Randolph (Randy) DelLago.  Karen has performed in the U.S., England, Canada, Poland and Bosnia, Colorado, Oklahoma, and every state East of the Mississippi River except for Delaware and West Virginia.

When not acting and singing, Karen  can be found quietly immersed in and attending to her collections of memorabilia dedicated to Annie Oakley (she was made an honorary founding member of the Annie Oakley Foundation, by Annie’s grand niece, Bess Edwards) and Judy Garland.
