SUMMARY:Big Time Swing: Hollywood swing music classics from '30s & ‘40s!
DESCRIPTION:Tickets starting at $59 | LUNCH BOX MATINEE: Lunch at 12pm\, Show at 1pm\n\nGrammy-nominated stride and swing-style pianist/vocalist\, Judy Carmichael\, celebrates the joy of Hollywood musicals from the 1930s and ‘40s. Can you think of Fred Astaire\, Gershwin and Cole Porter not smile? You might even get up and tap! \nJudy has taken this infectious style of music and her equally infectious personality everywhere from posh nightclubs in Paris and Melbourne to Carnegie Hall and a Rio concert for ten thousand Brazilians; from Arundel Castle sharing the stage with the London Philharmonic\, to Castle Fraser for the National Trust of Scotland at the behest of longtime fan\, Sir Cameron Mackintosh. Judy will be joined by guitarist Nate Najar\, a virtuoso and – perhaps even more impressive – a native Floridian. \n \nAbout Judy Carmichael: \nGrammy nominated pianist (and vocalist/radio host/humorist) Judy Carmichael is one of the world’s leading interpreters of stride piano and swing. Count Basie nicknamed her “Stride\,” acknowledging the command with which she plays this technically and physically demanding jazz piano style. Judy’s been featured on NPR’s Morning Edition\, Entertainment Tonight\, CBS’ Sunday Morning\, CNN’s Business Unusual\, numerous radio and TV shows across the globe\, and has her own weekly show\, Jazz Inspired on NPR\, now in its 26th year on air.  Judy Carmichael is included in The Encyclopedia of Jazz\, Madame Jazz: Contemporary Women Instrumentalists\, Who’s Who in the East\, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry in America\, “Who’s Who in American Woman\, American Women in Jazz\, Who’s Who in the World\, as well as the Encyclopedia of Jazz and was the first woman jazz pianist to be honored as a Steinway Artist. She was also the first woman instrumentalist to be hired by Disneyland and claims to still be close to Mickey\, although he wasn’t the one who hired her.
