THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY

Book by Marsha Norman
Based on the novel by Robert James Waller.

Local, Non-Equity performers for various roles and ensemble in the upcoming 2025 production of THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY. Non-Equity out-of-town actors with local housing and transportation options are welcome to audition/submit. See BREAKDOWN for role descriptions. No pay. Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

AUDITIONS: By Appointment Only!

  • DATE / TIME OF AUDITION:

    • Tuesday, March 11th, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

    • Thursday, March 13th, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS:

If you are not able to attend in person auditions on March 11th and 13th, the Delray Beach Playhouse will be accepting Video submissions for BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY. *Video submissions are DUE by end of day March 14th, 2025. Submit videos HERE.

  • SUBMIT HERE! 
  • Must be submitted by end of day March 14th, 2025.
  • It is NOT necessary to submit a video if you are attending IN-PERSON auditions. Please choose one or the other.

AUDITION PREPARATION:

  • Prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song that shows vocal ability and  personality. Bring sheet music. 
    • An accompanist is provided but may not transpose. 
  • You may be asked to sing another selection or from the score. 
  • Please bring 1 copy of your picture/resume stapled together.
  • Do not call the Playhouse box office with questions regarding these auditions. Please email questions to dbpauditions@gmail.com.

  • Rehearsals begin on Monday, 4/7/25
  • Rehearsals typically take place Monday – Friday, 6:30pm-10:30pm
  • Show Runs: 5/9/25 – 5/25/25

BREAKDOWN: 

Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

  • [FRANCESCA]: A beautiful Italian woman, generous, luminous, and funny, now married to a farmer and living in Iowa. Gender: Female; Age: 35 to 45

  • [RICHARD “BUD” JOHSON]: Francesca’s husband. An Iowa farmer, a good guy, diligent and dependable, but always exhausted and irritated that things haven’t gotten easier. Gender: Male; Age: 40 to 50

  • [ROBERT KINCAID]: A ruggedly handsome, worldly, visionary photographer.
    Gender: Male; Age: 40 to 50

  • [MARIAN]: Robert’s former wife, a musician. Gender: Female; Age: 35 to 45

  • [CHIARA]: Francesca’s sister still living in Italy. Gender: Female; Age: 35 to 45

  • [MICHAEL]: Francesca and Bud’s son. Gender: Male; Age: 16

  • [CAROLYN]: Francesca and Bud’s daughter. Gender: Female; Age: 14

  • [MARGE]: Francesca’s neighbor, sassy and nosy. Gender: Female; Age: 45 to 60

  • [CHARLIE]: Marge’s husband. Gender: Male; Age: 60 to 70

  • [ENSEMBLE]: 8 actors to play Townspeople, Waitress, State Fair Patrons, Ginny, State Fair Singer & Fiddle Players. All must sing extremely well, retain harmonies and basic movement.
