BOYNTON BEACH CLUB is a musical comedy based on the Susan Seidelman movie of the same name. The story centers on six seniors living in Boynton Beach who, after the death of their spouses, become friends at a bereavement support group.There to find emotional support, they soon find themselves back in the “dating game” after decades of married life, only to discover that all the rules have changed! Those who think that new love and romance end well before retirement age are in for a reality check. In a world where 60 is fast becoming the new 40, BOYNTON BEACH CLUB shows that it’s never too late to fall in love with ourselves and others, whatever your age!

History:
Shot in 2005, Boynton Beach Club premiered as a film in the Hamptons International Film Festival in East Hampton, New York in 2005 and starred Brenda Vaccaro, Dyan Cannon and Tony winner Len Cariou. It was then released to theaters in South Florida on March 17, 2006 and wider on August 4, playing in six states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Missouri, Arizona and California. The film’s working title was The Boynton Beach Bereavement Club. The musical, based on the film of the same name, previously had two small, invitation-only readings in New York. A concert version titled Boynton Beach Club: A New Musical In Concert was presented in February 2012 at the Park Vista Theatre in Lake Worth, FL, featuring a seasoned cast. The full musical had its premiere at the Manatee Performing Arts Center in Florida, running through early April 2017, featuring a projection-heavy, intimate production that highlighted the poignant and funny aspects of life after 50.
